Psychotherapy for weight loss

Is psychotherapy of benefit for schizophrenics who want to lose weight?

In the last decade, many psychotherapy interventions have been developed to help schizophrenics lose weight. The overall data indicate that psychotherapy is more effective than weight loss medications. However, most of these studies are reported by the providers, are of short duration and the follow up has been poor.

I find these psychotherapy interventions for schizophrenics completely bogus. Do you for one minute believe that a paranoid, angry, irritable, hallucinating and volatile schizophrenic will sit down with a psychotherapist and listen to the bogus chitchat on how to lose weight? Many schizophrenics have a short attention span and rarely do they indulge in long conversations.

If you believe this crap about benefits of psychotherapy in schizophrenia, then you probably have never encountered schizophrenic patients and are clueless.

For decades, psychotherapists have been coming up with nonsense therapies for every medical disorder- just like conventional medicine, the bottom line appears to be how to scam patients of all their money.
