I
have been diagnosed with anxiety and been having mood swings lately. Will I
develop manic depression?
From what little information provided, there is no reason to
think that you will develop manic disorder.
Everyone has mood swings and perhaps you are going through some changes in your life. Manic depression is not caused by anxiety.
Manic depression tends to run in families, and it is possible that you are at a slightly greater risk than the general population. You do not mention if you are on any medications for your anxiety. In any case, it would be wise to see your doctor and determine the severity of your anxiety. Perhaps your medication may require adjustment.
You may even benefit from cognitive behavior therapy to help you manage the mood swings.
