Lithium monitoring

I am on lithium and very rarely does my doctor measure the levels. Is this OK?

No, it is not OK. Lithium levels need to be monitored regularly, at least once a month or even more frequently if you have symptoms like tremor, difficulty with gait or confusion. I highly recommend a new psychiatrist. If your lithium levels are high, I would suggest seeing a malpractice lawyer. The side effects of lithium are often permanent. You can claim for lifetime damages. One way to bring about quality control in medicine and get rid of bad doctors is to sue them. Lawyers play a great role in the regulation of good medicine-not all are A-holes.
