My doctor told me I had
pyuria. What does that mean?
Pyuria is simply the presence of pus in urine. The diagnosis of pyuria is made by examining the urine and counting the number of white blood cells. While there are many causes of pyuria, the most common include urinary tract infection, infections of the kidney and prostate. When you have pyelonephritis, you may have other symptoms like fever, fatigue, chills, and lower pelvic pain, depending on the cause; most people do get better with antibiotics.
