I have neck pain for many years. Recently my doctor recommended Botox, does this work?
Physicians now abuse Botox and use it to treat many disorders, event though there is little clinical evidence. If you have had neck pain for many years, Botox will not work, Plus if you have neck pain due to bone or joint problems, Botox will not work.
Botox works when there are muscle spasms and only for acute conditions. The treatment is expensive and has to be continued for long periods. The majority of patients never benefit.
Personally, I think most of Botox uses are nothing more than a scam. I would seriously avoid any doctor who recommends Botox for neck pain. Even if you get pain relief, this is only for a few weeks and there is no cure.
Best advice, do some home exercise; there are plenty of free videos on the WEB where you can learn the exercises. The more you keep away from unscrupulous doctors and surgeons, the better off you will be in the long run—I am a surgeon and know exactly what I am talking about.
