Veins on my feet

I have very prominent veins on the top of my feet. My doctor says I should have them removed. Is this OK?

This is gross medical malpractice. While varicose veins on the legs can be removed for cosmetic reasons, the veins on the surface of the feet should never ever be removed. These veins are vital. I do not know of any surgeon who would even think of such a procedure.

The surgery to remove veins from the surface of your feet is excruciatingly painful and will leave you with prominent scars. In addition, there are delicate blood vessels and nerves that run in that area.

You have two options; leave town or change your surgeon. I would seriously consider reporting this doctor to the state licensing board, for even suggesting such a procedure. This doctor clearly lacks medical training and/or knowledge and is a danger to society.

The best advice for prominent veins on your feet is to wear a good pair of stockings. Cheap, effective, and complication free.
