Colonic polyp

 

I have been told I have a colonic polyp while undergoing a barium study. My doctor says I need surgery. Is there any other way to remove it?

Your doctor is simply trying to perform an unnecessary procedure. Polyps are no longer removed with surgery, but during colonoscopy. Go and see a decent GI doctor and arrange for a colonoscopy. The polyp can easily be removed by a competent MD using a snare. Please change your doctor, as this one does not appear to have your healthcare interests in mind.  Am sorry to say but there are many doctors who continually do things in medicine, just for the sake of money
