Is a fungal infection of skin dangerous?
Superficial fungal infections like tinea
corporis are not life threatening but can be annoying and socially
unacceptable. It is not appealing to others when you go round scratching your
arse or groin, every few minutes.
Most people develop a severe itch
which does not diminish with time. The rash can be so severe that one is unable
to sleep at night. Those individuals who have a weak immune system are at a
risk for spread of the fungus into the body and produce a serious infection.
Individuals who have HIV may find it impossible to get rid of this fungus even
with the use of potent medications.
