I have been on a water pills for my blood pressure for many years. Recently I was found to have very low potassium and had a near cardiac arrest. Is my doctor negligent?
You bet he/she is. This is gross negligence. Water pills can deplete your potassium and this can lead to dangerous heart rhythms. Your doctor should have been monitoring your potassium and magnesium levels. Go and see a good malpractice lawyer and all the bills that resulted from the complication should be passed on to him/her. There is no excuse for not monitoring electrolytes in all patients who take water pills.
