Blood in urine

Blood in the urine is not normal, but it is a common occurrence. Blood in the urine can occur for many reasons including intense exercise, trauma, infection, kidney stone, medications and cancer

In young people, the majority of causes of blood in the urine are not cancerous.  if you have no pain with blood in the urine, I suspect that this it is related to your exercise. Blood in the urine in athletes is not uncommon and usually disappears with time. However, if this persists, it is wise to get your self checked up by a doctor.

The work up for blood in the urine involves some basic laboratory tests and some type of radiological imaging study. If the bleeding persists, a urologist should look into the bladder with a scope. Cystoscopy is an unpleasant test but one which is necessary at times
