Acne Rosacea

I am a 28 year old male and for several years have had severe acne, and a large nose that is often red. The doctor just keeps on giving me a topical cream which does not do much. What is the cause?

Your doctor must be a damn fool if he/she does not know what this is. This is most likely rhinophyma or acne rosacea. It is caused by thickening of the underlying tissues and prominent pores. Often the nose is red and has a pronounced effect on cosmesis-meaning it looks ugly.

The best advice is to see a good skin doctor. Most family doctors have very little idea how to treat this skin disorder. Topical medications rarely work. Good luck. By the way, avoid all surgery.
