Is Lamisil Safe?

I have been prescribed oral lamisil for my nail infection. Is the drug safe?

Lamisil in general is a safe drug. The few reported side effects include headaches, occasional diarrhea, skin rash and bloating or gastric upset.

Lamisil can increase levels of liver enzymes and thus all individuals should have baseline liver function studies done prior to taking the drug.

For most people Lamisil 250 mg is an adequate dose. The granules come as 125 mg and are slightly more expensive.

You may have to take the drug for many months and this can be expensive. IF your nail is badly infected with a fungus, have it surgically removed-this is cheaper and faster. The new nail will be shiner, smooth and infection free. What you need is a competent surgeon.
