Should I see my
doctor for burning feet?
Burning feet is a common complaint and in most cases, it is due to excess fatigue or overuse of the feet. In most cases, this burning sensation subsides with rest, elevation of feet and bathing the feet in cold water or application of a cold compress. If 1) the burning pain continues for more than a few weeks, 2) the pain is intense, 3) the pain is spreading up the legs, or 4) if you are losing sensation in your feet, it is time to see a doctor. Unfortunately, the treatment of burning feet is not great and many people continue to have the symptoms for long periods. The cause in most cases is unknown and so no one knows how best to treat it. If the condition persists, I would see a neurologist to rule out neuropathy
