Can olanzapine cause weight gain?
Unfortunately, most antipsychotic drugs cause weight gain. Other side effects of the drug include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, drooling, lightheadedness, constipation and drowsiness. These side effects occur in most patients and usually lessen with time. However, some patients may develop more serious side effects like a fast heart rate, fainting spells, suicidal thoughts, increased anxiety, tremors and difficulty swallowing food. The only way to avoid weight gain is to eat less and walk more. There is no other magic bullet.
