I have had eczema for many years and have recently
been told that I should take probiotics. Will this help?
Eczema is a skin disorder which manifests with an itchy red rash. The disorder is very common and affect close to 10-20 percent of people in their life-time. No one knows how this disorder starts and what is the best treatment. Corticosteroids and moisturizers are the two conventional treatments. Now there are some people who advocate probiotics for treating eczema. Unfortunately, all the studies so far have shown that probiotics have no affect on eczema. At this point in time, probiotics cannot be recommended for eczema. These products are safe, but are expensive. So why waste money on an unproven treatment? There are other things you can do at home to relieve the symptoms of eczema.
