Is there any way of knowing ahead of time if a sleeve
gastrectomy will work for weight loss? I have failed two lap bands.
No, there is no way of telling if any bariatric surgery will
work. Patients unfortunately are at the mercy of surgeons. Many patients spend
fortunes undergoing expensive weight loss surgeries with no success. Most
people believe that going to a good surgeon will result in a satisfactory
result. While this is true in many cases, the success of the procedure does not
always depend on the surgeon. Complications, though, depend on the quality of the surgeon.
In general, if you have failed two lap bands, the chances of failure are high
for additional surgery and you are also at risk for complications. Good luck and talk to people who
have it done. I would not advise it.
