I have been told to quit smoking before weight loss surgery.
Is this necessary?
Yes it is. Smoking delays or interferes with healing. In
addition, when complications develop, surgeons always claim that it was your
smoking that was the cause.
So I would highly recommend you stop smoking at least 4 weeks prior to
the surgery. In fact quitting is the best idea. If after quitting smoking, a
complications develops, now you can sue the doctor as he/she cant blame the
nicotine.
