Antidepressant for IBS

I have recently been diagnosed with IBS and am stressed out. This has not helped my symptoms. Do you think an antidepressant may help?

Antidepressants are often used to treat IBS patients. They relieve the muscle spasms; reduce pain and frequency of bowel movements. The drugs also provide good sleep. However, if you have the constipation type IBS, antidepressants may worsen the symptoms. You may want to start on the lowest dose and gradually increase the dose over a few weeks. The tricyclic antidepressants is what you want. The overall results with the second generation of antidepressants for IBS patients are still questionable.
